Dating and Disney: Real Life Applications
For reasons that allude me, there's been an over saturation of Snow White on screen, including and not limited to "Once Upon a Time", "Snow White and the Huntsman", and "Mirror Mirror." Almost every girl has a favorite Disney Princess. Mine has always been Sleeping Beauty, which may seem an oxymoron considering how much I hate Barbies, but if one will look closely at the elements of the story, they far surpass Snow White in greatness, not only as far as storytelling goes, but in greatness of heart. There is an abundant amount of similarities in both stories, but it's the differences that prove that Sleeping Beauty is in fact the greater story and should be getting all of the hype. I think a lot of people mistakenly assume Sleeping Beauty is a boring story because all she does is sleep, but that's just ignorant. She doesn't sleep very long, and it's what happens before that makes the story so great - kinda like with Star Wars!

Hey I Just Met You, And This is Crazy, But How’s Your Grammar?

As a high school English teacher I’ve had the opportunity to teach a Composition and Journalism class with part of the curriculum focusing on propaganda and advertising techniques/terms like band-wagoning, pathos, logos, ethos, stereotyping, assumptions, sexism, etc. But it wasn’t the boring English teacher stuff that got my wheels turning – it was what these ecards are saying about judging others, especially potential mates, by their grammar.

Whether we want to admit it or not, judging is almost always the first thing we do when we look at someone, and singles are the worst. If it’s not a physical judgment based on looks, it’s a judgment based on who they are BECAUSE OF their looks. Once that judgment is made, the personality/brains judgment is next.

Marrying the Unknown: How Fast is TOO fast?

I live in the sinful city of Las Vegas, known for the saying, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" and quickie marriages.  I also grew up/am part of a culture and religion that tends to marry quick.  I had floormates who went on two dates and married 2 weeks later - and not at a drive-thru wedding chapel in Vegas. If I had to average out a time estimate from my friend's dating length, I'd say it's about 6 months. All of that being said, we also tend to produce big families and have an extremely low divorce rate of about 6%.

I've also seen people date for a quite a while and still run into surprises right out of left field. Some also find their companion on the internet, meet a few times, and call it good.

So, how fast is too fast? Is there such a thing, or when you know, you know?
